Cast Trivia - Titus Welliver
- He was born in New Haven, Connecticut, but was raised in Philadelphia and Maine.
- His dad, Neil Welliver, was a famous landscape painter, and his mom was a fashion illustrator. He has three brothers, Ethan and John. An additional brother, Silas, was killed overseas.
- Like his father, Titus is a talented painter, and considered pursuing it as a career before he fell in love with acting.
- He graduated from New York University, with a degree in Performing Arts.
- He married actress Joanna Heimbold in May 1998. They have a son (born May 1999) named Eamonn Lorcan Charles, and a daughter named Quinn (born 2002). They divorced in 2004, and Titus had another daughter in 2006, named Cora, with indie film producer, Elizabeth Alexander.

Quotes:
(on joining Lost) “It’s pretty insane. It’s pretty insane. This is a completely different thing for me. At the street level, it has been crazy. People — from all walks of life — come up and say, “Now, you possessed Locke…?” “Are you in fact Locke?” “Has the character of Locke been created from you, and this was a whole setup to crash the plane?”
“I always thought of Smokey as being a real tragic hero, in a way. I mean, what a place to play from. Here’s a human being who doesn’t want any of this stuff he’s been handed. All he wants to do is go and find his people. He wants to go and live a normal life and he can’t. He’s being held a prisoner, and he just wants to escape. Where’s the evil in that? We all can understand, if someone has been wrongly convicted and incarcerated, that the driving force to become free under any circumstances and what one would do to obtain that freedom. I found that character really tragic — strong, but deeply tragic…but not evil.”
“The thing I found extreme was the time I did the first episode from the last season — I call it the Nestor Carbonell episode. Everywhere I went, over a six-month period on a weekly basis, I would say maybe five to ten times more people were stopping to ask me when I was going back to Lost and if I had any sense of who my character was and what his name was.”
“I think Damon [Lindeloff] and Carlton [Cuse], and all those involved in Lost wanted to just tell a really good story, and they were able to cram all those great storytelling elements into a television series in six seasons, and you’re lucky if you can maintain that level of excellence in a season or two of something. They managed to pull it off. There are some naysayers who were Lost fans who said, ‘Well, by the third season I was feeling lit. Things were kind of flopping around.’ If they flopped around for the fans, it wasn’t for very long because nobody left. They all admit that they stayed there. They might have felt confused or irritated, but they hung in. That’s why I think this show has real legs — if you can hold an audience for that long without it being something that’s like a procedural law drama or a cop show or a hospital show.”
“I feel very blessed for being a part of something that I think will really stand the test of time. I think Lost will continue to find new audiences generation after generation after generation, and in that way, it’ll be fun to watch when I’m 80 years old — some ten-year-old coming over and saying, ‘You’re the Man in Black?’ ‘I was.’ “

![Cast Trivia - Henry Ian Cusick
He usually goes by his middle name - Ian.
He was born in Peru to a Peruvian mother and Scottish father. He still speaks Spanish fluently.
He lived in Spain, Scotland and Trinidad and Tobago, all before he was 15.
He moved back to Scotland at 15 to attend the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama. He later joined the Citizens’ Theatre.
He was raised Roman Catholic, and seriously considered entering the seminary. His father was a minister and his uncle was a priest.
He’s peformed with many traveling theater troupes, including: The Royal Shakespeare Company, Royal National Theatre, The Almeida, Liverpool Playhouse and Babel Theatre Company.
He lived with Annie Wood for about 14 years before they married in June 2006. They have three sons: Elias, Lucas and Esau.
He’s portrayed Jesus, Charles Darwin and of course, a time-traveling Scotsman.
While staying with his friend, actor Brian Cox, in 2004, Ian briefly met Cox’s neighbor in his driveway. That neighbor was Carlton Cuse. Ian later auditioned for Desmond by sending in a video tape from London. After he earned the role, Carlton noticed that show scripts were being sent to an address next door. He then vaguely remembered meeting Ian.
One major thing that appealed to him about the Desmond role is that he could use his natural accent. The producers wanted either an Irish or Scottish actor.
In 2006, he was nominated for a best guest-star Emmy for the season 2 finale. He was the only cast member to earn a nomination that year.
He didn’t cut his hair for the 1996 flashback scenes in “The Constant”. Rather, his long locks were hidden under a wig. All the freighter scenes were shot first, and then he shaved off all his facial hair for the flashbacks. He wore a fake beard for the next two episodes while his real one grew back.
When asked what other Lost character he would like to play, he said that he “wouldn’t want to swap him for any other character.” It’s the “best and richest” role character he’s ever had.
His favorite Desmond episode was “Live Together, Die Alone”, because it finally gave him some information on Desmond’s background.
To stay fit, he swims, surfs, runs, cycles and does a bit of soccer.
He says that, like Desmond, “Tell me not to do something and I’ll do it.”
He said he once stole “a Desmond blue shirt”, but had to give it back.
His family loves living in Hawaii, and they plan to stay there at least until his oldest son graduates from high school in two years.
Quotes:
“I turned up in Hawaii four years ago on a three episode arc, but it was one of those gigs where I looked around and I thought ‘wow this would be just the coolest job to get’, so when I think about it, I wanted it so much. I remember being on set and everything just seemed to be easy; It wasn’t a difficult transition, just one of those things I kind of manifested it.”
(on if he thinks he’s worth of expensive scotch) “Sixty-year-old scotch? I certainly wouldn’t drink it in the office. That’s a good question, actually. Am I a man worthy? Of course! We’re all worthy of 60-year-old scotch. It’s only 60-year-old scotch, you know? If it was 120 year-old scotch, it might be different.”
“[Desmond’s] been kind of lucky. He has the ability to foresee the future, and he had the ability to travel in his mind. So these are sort of cool qualities that we all sort of think, ‘Oh, what would that be like?’ And he has the ability to withstand great amounts of electromagnetism. When you have these qualities, you’re always a little bit cooler than the rest.”
(on filming Charlie’s death scene with Dominic) “It sent shivers up my spine. It was just very moving. He’s a really tremendous actor.”
“I love Terry O’Quinn. He’s a wonderful guy, wonderful actor. He is the one that I really, really enjoy working with. Our scenes, I thought, were quite special. I can’t wait to get back to work with him.”
“[Josh Holloway] is the sweetest guy in real life. He’s Mr. Energy. When he’s on set, he’s laughing and joking with everyone. He’s having a blast.”
“There’s so much I’m going to miss about it. Just going to work, being part of the show called “Lost.” Getting to play Desmond Hume, you know. When I read the other scripts that are coming in or stuff that I’m up for, nothing really compares. He’s such a rich character, it’s going to be hard to top.”

![Cast Trivia - Emilie De Ravin
As a child, she wasn’t much interested in watching cartoons. She loved Bewitched and I Dream of Jeannie, as well as Alfred Hitchock films.
She has two sisters - both more than fifteen year older than her.
After dating for four years, she married Josh Janowicz, in the summer of 2006. They split just six months later.
During the first season of Lost, Emilie says that she was probably the least recognized member of the cast. Many fans were surprised to see that she was skinny and not pregnant.
She had an obstetrician on set for Claire’s labor, so that the situation would feel as real as possible.
She studied ballet since age 9 and at age 15, she was accepted into the highly selective Australian Ballet School. However, she dropped out after a year to pursue acting.
The first album she ever bought was by The Beatles, she loved Alanis Morissette in high school and her go-to karaoke song is Pat Benatar’s “Heartbreaker.”
Despite being on Lost, she’s never been afraid of flying.
She has two dogs, named Bella and Mabel.
Besides playing a pregnant character on Lost, her characters on the series Roswell and in the film Brick were also pregnant.
Her favorite food is sushi. One of her favorite TV show is Friends.
Her only food allergy is peanuts. She was a bit disappointed to read in the Lost script that the her character’s favorite food was peanut butter, since it is one thing she can’t eat.
She said that she would love to explore more comedic roles, as well as star in period pieces. She loves learning about different decades, and has said that she thinks she should have been born in the mid-to-late 1940s.
She avoided watching season 5 of Lost, because she didn’t want to know the things her character’s wouldn’t. She found filming the final season more interesting that way, even though she still heard a good deal about her missed season from the cast and crew.
Quotes:
“When I’m getting asked what it’s like kissing Rob (Pattinson), I’m really intrigued by what people are really looking for. I mean, do they want me to describe his mouth? [laughs] What can you say? It’s like, well, his lips part at about 2.3 millimeters. It’s funny.”
(on the wig she wore as Claire in season 6) “There probably are rats in there.”
“Honestly, I think my favorite moments were at the beginning of the series when the original cast was working together, and just sort of hanging out. This final season has been like the old days. It’s kind of nice getting back to that, if you just forget that it’s ending, which is kind of sad. But I’d much rather have it conclude while it’s still good and people are still interested, as opposed to just sort of petering out. I will miss it though.””
(on Claire’s “squirrel baby”) “I was thinking it could maybe be the new Tickle Me Elmo at Christmastime. I could make some cash off this. A Tickle Me Elmo baby with detachable arms.”
“I’ve never dyed my hair. I’d actually love to dye it black, well, not quite black but really dark brown, one day, just for a change. But I’m told it will never come back again. I think there’s definitely the stereotype of the dumb blonde, but if people buy into that they’re lame. I wish people looked to people more for their personality than looks.”
